Next model may feature four-inch touchscreen

iPhone 5 ‘bigger screen’ rumours gather pace

Now that iPhone 4Ss are in the hands of Apple fans across the globe, speculation has turned to what we can expect from the iPhone 5.

Both The Wall Street Journal and Reuters are reporting that Apple plans to use a larger screen on the next model of the popular smartphone.

Sources are claiming that the new screens will be four inches diagonally, compared to 3.5-inches now.

The firm is likely responding to competition that may not have quite the market presence of Apple, but do have significantly bigger screens – such as Samsung’s Galaxy line. Whilst many are waiting to see when Apple will lose its grip on the market, this move shows it is not complacent about current successes.

LG Display Co Ltd, Sharp Corp and Japan Display Inc are likely to produce the new screens, and rumours suggest the next iPhone could begin production as soon as this summer.
