Nvidia launches GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Nvidia have added another model to the firms range of mainstream gaming video cards with Fermi-based the GeForce GTX 550 Ti offering 28 per cent higher performance then the earlier GTS 450 model.

The GTX 550Ti is estimated to be priced around £119 which the graphics specialist said "brings a new level of price/performance to mainstream PC gaming, while maintaining exceptionally quiet acoustics and requiring minimal power."

Nvidia called attention to the fact that the GTX 550 Ti is suitable for use in an SLI configuration by later upgrading to a second card. 

"The GTX 550 Ti paired with our 3D Vision technology provides gamers with an amazing low-cost platform that delivers an awesome immersive experience," said Nvidia GPU boss Drew Henry.

Nvidia said the usual array of partners would be producing video cards based on the new GPU including: ASUS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Inno3D, KFA2, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Point of View, PNY, Sparkle, and Zotac.
