Free app lauded for being simple and useful

Intel launch ‘Boxed CPU decoder’ iPhone app

Intel has launched an iPhone application which allows comparison of a range of Intel processors.

The new "Intel Boxed CPu Decoder" application allows users to quality identify processor features. The app provides the means to search and compare processors by brand or socket as well as identifying key differences such as frequency, cache size, number of cores/threads and thermal design power.

One of the user comments on the iTunes store said: "Finally, I can go into a store and figure out what I am getting. These features are not called out unless I can get a spec sheet."

So far the 3.5MB free application is only on the iPhone and can be found by searching for "intel decoder" on iTunes.
