Logitech has launched the Logitech Alert, which the company describes as a complete HD digital video security system.
The company says that the Alert "lets you keep an eye on what matters most" and offers two version of the system, the internal Alert 750i Master System and the weatherproof Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master System with night-vision. Additionally the company is offering expansion cameras for the system, the Alert 700i and 700e for internal and external use respectively.
A premium web-based service will also be offered called the Logitech Alert Web and Mobile Commander. The service allows the owner to watch video that is recorded and stored on your camera and manage settings and alerts from the Web or a smartphone. Logitech Alert Web and Mobile Commander will offered with a 7-day free trial with the US service priced at $79.99 a year.
"The video security market is characterized by expensive, hard-to-install and hard-to-use security systems, as well as poor-quality monitoring cameras," said Logitech vice president Eric Kintz. "As part of our vision to bring HD video to anyone, anywhere, Logitech is thrilled to introduce a completely new video security solution to consumers and small businesses, which offers HD video quality and motion-triggered live viewing and recording at attractive price points."
The cameras maks extensive use of motion-triggered alerts and feature a built-in digital video recorder (DVR) which can record to 2GB MicroSD card, eliminating the need to be connected to a PC permanently. The cameras are capable of capturing HD 720p video and are equiped with 130 degree wide-angle lenses. The external version are also equipped with what Logitech describes as "powerful HD night-vision."
The Logitech Alert 750i Master System and the Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master System be priced in the US at $299.99 (£188) and $349.99 (£220) respectively. The Alert range is expected to be available in the US and Europe in August.
