IBM and Asustek have amicably settled a two-year patent dispute by agreeing to a new cross-licensing deal.
IBM had filed a patent dispute to the US International Trade Commission back in December 2007, alleging that Asus had infringed on its patents with a range of products. The dispute concerned power supplies, cooling tech and computer clustering technologies.
However, in April 2008 Asus had lodged a patent lawsuit of its own, alleging that IBM had infringed on its own patents.
Now both companies have announced they have struck a cross-licensing agreement which, effectively, ends the onging patent litigation between the two groups.
The new deal will act as the foundation to future collaborative efforts.
