Alliance to be announced as Microsoft expands its reach

Nokia phones to carry Office suite

Microsoft and Nokia are set to unveil a partnership that will see the mobile handset vendor include the Office software suite on its phones.

According to Silicon.com, Microsoft has already demonstrated that its new Office software can display documents on a wide range of mobile phones.

This latest move comes as Microsoft attempts to broaden the reach of its forthcoming Office suite, which is due to be released next year, and will be available on the PC, the internet and now on mobile devices.

However, while this alliance does serve to increase the market reach of Office, it comes at the expense of one of Windows Mobile’s key advantages – its exclusive, direct compatibility with the Office suite.
