Basement Jaxx and Lily Allen back new interactive audio file format

First ‘interactive’ singles appear on MXP4 format

A number of chart topping artists, including Basement Jaxx, Lily Allen ex-Eurythmic Dave Stewart have shown early support for new audio file format MXP4, which promises users greater interactivity with the music, reports Music Industry News Network.

MXP4 files allow users to remix different elements of a song (by taking a guitar track out, for instance), and can also carry multiple tracks, text, video, images, live updates, and allow dynamic interaction such as contest submission.

The format will allow digital versions of albums to have much more content than is currently available, which could boost sales.
