Sub-brand 'abducted' in favour of Alienware division

Dell kills off XPS range

Dell has taken the sensational move and killed off its XPS gaming brand after it started to adversely impact sales of its Alienware sub-brand, according to the Wall Street Journal.

According to the report, a " combined gaming design and development unit" will take over responsibility for the vendor’s gaming range. It will also be using its Inspiron range to go after the laptop market, leaving Alienware free to explore the "edgy, maverick style that resonates with gamers."

The report also suggests that the firm is currently working on a revamp to Alienware’s well know cases.

It is unclear whether or not its XPS World of Warcraft range will now move under the Alienware banner or be phased out with the rest of the XPS range.
