Apple retailer purchases Scotsys' Glasgow retail business

Cancom in Scottish push

Apple retailer Cancom has bought reseller Scotsys’ remaining retail business in a deal that will see the Guildford-based firm expand into Scotland.

Cancom, which currently has stores in Guildford, Brighton, Cambridge and Kensington, will take over Scotsys’ Edinburgh store and retain its existing staff, with the reseller agreeing on the deal so that it can focus on the SME and Public Sector markets.

Speaking about the deal, Cancom’s managing director Max Wright said: "We have always respected Scotsys as a major player in the education and public sector markets and now they have chosen to concentrate more on these areas, it makes sense to sell the retail aspect of the business to us, as this is the area in which we now specialise."

Scotsys’ director, Graham Bucknall added: "We have identified that our main areas of focus for the future are the public sector (particularly the education sector in Scotland) and the SME market. These areas are where the majority of our business is currently and where we see our expertise lying."
