ECS to ship 3.8 million laptops in 2008

Taiwanese vendor, Elitegroup Computer Systems has said that it expects to ship 3.8 million notebooks during 2008, an increase of 26.67 per cent on 2007.

The figures were revealed to Digitimes by sources at the company. They also revealed to the site that the company is only expecting to ship 200,000 units of Intel’s Classmate sub-notebook thanks to weak demand.

It also believes that its strategy of building its brand is helping to develop sales growth in its motherboard business, with shipments expected to hit 28 million units during 2008.
