AMD slashes RV670 chip price

AMD has reduced its ATI Radeon HD 3800 series price by $20 from $199-$259 to $179- $239. The price cut comes following Nvidias launch of its GeForce 8800GT model.

The chipmaker will make ATI Radeon HD 3800 available in two versions, the 3870 and the 3850. Bth chips will support CrossFire X technology, which allows u to four graphics cards to work concurrently.

The 3850 model will support 256/512MB GDDR3 memory with a core frequency of 750MHz and a memory frequency of 1.8GHz, while the 3870 model performs to a core frequency of 825MHz and memory frequency of 2.4GHz.
