Such is Steve Jobs’ ability to drum up publicity that people are still talking about the iPhone when one of the world’s biggest technology companies is hosting its annual jamboree.

So Intel has clearly decided: if you can’t beat ’em join ’em, and whipped out a couple of smart phones of its own. The first looks like a super-wide iPhone, while the second appears to be a reductio ad absurdam of the UMPC.

Specualtion about when they might make an appearance varies, but we can safely assume that the iPhone is going to face a lot of competition and its coming sooner rather than later.
