Three more laptops affected as power cell debacle rolls on

Toshiba recalls more Sony batteries

Toshiba has been forced to issue its third recall of laptop batteries in as many months after the Consumer Product Safety Commission names 1,400 notebooks that contained potential faulty Sony-manufactured power cells.

Laptops affected by this recall include the Toshiba Satellite A100, Satellite A105 and Tecra A7. Any consumers who have one of these laptops manufactured between January and June 2006 are urged to contact Toshiba for a replacement.

So far this year Toshiba has been forced to recall over 5,100 laptop batteries. However, that figure is still lower than the nine million Sony-based laptops recalled by various manufacturers in 2006.
