Cancellation and namechange rumours ended by Incisive

May date for Channel Expo ’08

PC Retail can reveal that the biggest trade show in the PC sector will definitely be coming back next year, but in its more usual slot of late spring.

Business publishing giant Incisive Media took over the event as part of its buy-out of many magazines and shows formerly owned by VNU. There has since been speculation that it could change its name to tie in with sister magazine CRN, or even be closed altogether.

This year saw the first appearance of Channel Expo, morphing out of what was the Computer Trade Show (CTS) and Technology Retailer Show (TGS). It moved into a new hall at Birmingham’s NEC and took place in late March rather than the May slot of its predecessors.

PC Retail understands, however, that Channel Expo ’08 is guaranteed for a return to mid or late May.

This is likely to please exhibitors and visitors alike and underpin the return of key names such as Acer, AMD, Avanquest, Blue Solutions, Bullguard, Enta, Ingram, Logitech, Meroncourt and Trust.

An official announcement is expected later in the summer, along with plans to make the show bigger and better than ever.
