VoIP sector to play a big part in PC’s future, chip firm claims

Intel aims to make PC telephony big business

Computing giant Intel has stated that it sees internet telephony as one of the biggest upcoming advances in the sector, and that it intends to play a big part in the changes.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Intel’s director of business-client architecture Steve Grobham claims that with internet telephony prices already at rock bottom, the next evolution will concern the features available via the technology.

Intel is working on a number of technologies including the ad-hoc translations and conversation captioning, as well as improving the overall quality of both connections and security.

Intel is likely to partner with an existing VoIP company, such as Skype or Jajah, for its venture.
