Printer firm files printer cartridge patent infringement lawsuit

HP goes to court

Leading printer manufacturer Hewlett Packard has filed a lawsuit against German firm Pelikan Hardcopy relating to alleged patent infringement involving HP printer cartridges.

Channel Register reports that the lawsuit, which has been filed at the Düsseldorf District Court, claims that six patents have been breached – three involving cartridge design and three related to ink formulation.

The products are currently being sold in Germany under the Pelikan brand. HP PR manager Sarah Stevens said that even though the cartridges are labelled as remanufactured, "they appear new to us."
