iPhone still on track for June

Apple has reassured the technology sector that its highly anticipated iPhone is still on track for a June release in the US, as was first suggested at the device’s unveiling at MacWorld last January.

DailyTech reports that Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer yesterday reiterated that: "We look forward to shipping the iPhone in late June and are very excited."

An unofficial launch date of June 11 was reported by CNET last month, a date that would coincide with Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The iPhone will be priced at $499 for the 4GB model and $599 for the 8GB model, with both machines coming with a two year Cingular Wireless contract in the US.

The European launch details are yet to be revealed.
