HP launches faster DVD drives

HP is set to launch three new multi-format DVD writers later this this month. The dvd1040i and HPdvd1035i are internal drives, while the dvd1040e is external.

The vendor has said that the new models will offer high speeds, double-layer recording, and feature LightScribe 1.2 which provides for high-contrast labelling, according to The Inquirer.

The dvd1040i and dvd1040e can record data onto DVDs at up to 8x on a double-layer, recordable DVDs up to 20x, re-writables up to 8x and DVD-RAM up to 12x.

The drives are the latest product of the relationship HP recently engineered with Lite-On, who manufacture technology of various types in the Far East.

All three models will be available in Europe later on this month. The 1040i will retail for €49, the 1040e for €75 and the 1035i for €45.
