This year?s TCA Conference hosted a range of presentations, from the largely product-focused, such as Kingston Technology?s, to a managed services overview from lead sponsor Kaseya.

Time for a quick recap of the story so far. In June 2009, the merger of the Mac Technology Association and the PCA was announced and by September the effective combining of the two organisations was complete in all but one aspect ? our websites. There was simply too much Mac-channel specific information on the MTA website to allow us to turn it off.

There are stringent checks and requirements before joining and during the membership term. Customers are encouraged to comment on the service they receive.

How often do we put our future or livelihood in the hands of a solicitor or lawyer? Because of their skills and professionalism they are able to charge us fees that may often make our eyes water. But at least we have the understanding that if they do indeed rip us off or give us unprofessional service, they can be hauled before their professional bodies and disciplined.

Barely a day seems to have gone by recently without a new tablet PC being launched. The question really is whether there is an actual need for such a device outside of certain established niche markets. Apple and many others certainly seem to think so.

So the iPad, Apple?s first tablet computer, is now officially launched and on its way to an eagerly waiting Apple community. And I use ?first? advisedly, as there is much evidence of component purchases and design blueprints which indicate that the iPad is just the first of a new line of similar devices which Apple will be launching. So what next? A ?multi-touch? touchscreen iMac is now the next hotly rumoured product.

It?s an exciting time to be in the technology market. While brand new form factors such as the tablet and hybrid PCs are catching the eyes of gadget fans the world over, innovative new 3D and multi-touch screens look set to change the way we interact with our computers forever.
