Notch praises Valve’s latest announcement

Valve to launch Linux-based SteamOS

Valve has announced its own Linux-based operating system, SteamOS, which is designed for living room gaming PCs.

SteamOS will enable gamers to stream titles from a Windows or Mac PC straight to a TV.

After the announcement, Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson tweeted, praising SteamOS and expressing more concerns over Microsoft Windows 8.

This is not the first time Notch has taken a dig out of Windows 8, last year he accused Microsoft of trying to ruin the PC with its latest OS.

Valve also revealed that it is planning on adding music and video media services to the operating system.

This is the first of three announcements due this week from Valve. The second will take place around 4pm on Wednesday September 25th and the other will be on Friday September 27th. It is highly expected that the final announcement will be the Steam Box.
