Simwood launches WhatsApp for business voice integration

Simwood has introduced WhatsApp for Business voice integration across its global software-defined carrier network, enabling enterprises to connect directly with more than three billion WhatsApp users worldwide. The new service allows seamless routing of voice calls between WhatsApp and unified communications platforms such as Microsoft Teams and SIP-based systems, while also supporting two-way messaging through Simwood’s API and AI-driven conversational agents.

The integration, now live on Simwood’s production infrastructure, is designed to help carriers, managed service providers, and platform operators deliver secure, verified, and encrypted communications. It combines high-quality voice and messaging with advanced features including call recording, sentiment analysis, and conversational AI, offering businesses new opportunities to differentiate and monetise omni-channel services.

CEO Simon Woodhead said the move brings WhatsApp into the carrier ecosystem, removing friction and unlocking new revenue streams without disrupting existing workflows. CTO Charles Chance added that the integration reflects Simwood’s API-first approach, giving partners tools to build agile, unified communications services and accelerate enterprise adoption.

The service is available globally on any verified WhatsApp for Business account, with compliance safeguards in place and restrictions on direct WhatsApp-to-PSTN routing under Meta’s current policy.
