PPDS gains market share in Nordics with record Philips professional TV sales

According to latest official industry figures from DMR AS, PPDS has seen its market share reach 36% at the end of Q1.

The figures, which cover sales in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, cover a range of product categories within the commercial TV market, including 4K UHD, FHD and HD. The figures show PPDS’ market share during this period was almost four times higher than that of Sony and nearly double that of Samsung.

Confirmation of PPDS’ Nordic standing comes after the manufacturer announced sales of its highly acclaimed, future proof, Philips MediaSuite pro Android hospitality TVs recently surpassed 110,000, since first going on sale in 2019. Numbers in 2020, despite the challenges, continued to rise significantly, with hotels all over Europe recognising the quality and long-term benefits – both for RoI, sustainability and guest experience – of the range.

Mikael da Fonseca, sales director, Nordics and Baltics at PPDS, said: “The figure is testament to the hard work invested in our team through a challenging period. Our products are designed to bring change and exceptional value to our customers, whether it’s a professional TV in a hotel room, or an interactive display in a university lecture theatre. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far but we are not about to get complacent. The best is yet to come.”

Philips MediaSuite, which is now the preferred choice for thousands of hotels across Europe, is widely credited for ‘raising the bar’ for hospitality TVs, with a number of ‘world first’ features and benefits. These include full remote management and personalisation, Chromecast built-in™ for seamless content streaming from a personal device, thousands of apps (including YouTube, Spotify, weather, news), extensive TV, radio and premium entertainment choice and capabilities including Netflix ready streaming functionality, voice control and many others.

Built on an Android TVT OS, these Philips-branded hospitality TVs also carry PPDS’ unique ‘Extended Lifetime’ promise, ensuring all Philips MediaSuites, whether purchased today, last week or even last year, are able to offer a consistent experience, keeping pace with guest expectations, including how they would prefer to consume content – via casting, streaming or traditional linear viewing.

Sales of PPDS’ Ultra HD (4K) B-Line range, launched in 2020, also continue to be strong, particularly in the food and beverage industry across the Nordics.
