OnBuy.com has boosted its team by more than five times in the first quarter of this year, compared to the first quarter of 2020, backing up the latest job figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS)showing that there has been an increase in retail jobs during the same period.
Head of HR Helen Manley, a recent appointment herself, says: “Recent figures released by the ONS show that UK retail gained 1,000 jobs in Q1 this year compared to the same period in 2020, and our need to implement a huge recruitment drive this year is reflected in this growth.
“OnBuy’s team has scaled significantly in size, going from just 14 team members to over 85 since 2020. The rise reflects the many job roles that have been created due to the huge growth in the eCommerce sector. Q2 looks just as exciting for us as we prepare to increase our talented team to 100 members. Recent new hires include a Chief Technical Officer, Senior Web Developers, Development Operations Engineer, CRM Manager and Finance Manager.
“The continued popularity of online shopping is driving a boom in eCommerce job searches, according to data from Indeed Flex, and this will only continue as consumer shopping behaviour makes more of a permanent shift towards online shopping. Digital roles such as software engineers and developers will only rise to support this trend. The market we’re recruiting in is currently incredibly buoyant, with a large pool of talent actively looking for new opportunities. We plan to use this time to grow our team and create the best possible environment to support our employees, both existing and new.”
