Tech Data widens choice for Windows virtual desktop migration

Tech Data’s two new options have been released to help Microsoft CSP partners respond to rising interest in Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD).

The Click to Run solution for WVD gives partners an environment that can be deployed in Microsoft Azure within minutes.  The separate Assessment and Migration service for WVD meanwhile, is suited to situations where the customer’s desktop environment is more complex and gives MSPs an excellent way to add value and extend their service offering.

The new services are being introduced at time when more end-user organisations are looking to enable their staff far more productive and efficient home working. They leverage both the experience and expertise of Tech Data in managing Azure migrations and the capabilities of its StreamOne cloud aggregation platform, which provides partners with a single place in which they can manage all of their CSP customer subscriptions and consumption.

Simon Bennett, Director, Enterprise Software and Cloud, Tech Data, UK and Ireland, said: “Windows Virtual Desktop has rapidly become a best-selling cloud solution and has helped CSP partners drive consumption levels strongly over recent months. With these two options, Tech Data is making it easier for Microsoft MSPs to meet the wide range of customer requirements. It is yet another example of how Tech Data is investing and leading the way in developing and building cloud business for the channel.”

The WVD Click to Run solution gives partners the ability to migrate, deploy and scale remote desktops and apps in minutes – making it ideal for setting up teams of people for home or distance working. It is compatible with Microsoft 365 Business Premium, E3, and E5 subscriptions

It allows for multi-session Windows 10 and is optimised for Office 365 Pro Plus. It incorporates Azure Active Directory Domain Services for authentication and Bastion host for secure access from any browser. Tech Data pre-configures the environment based on the specifications provided, allowing the partner to choose the size and quantity of the host virtual machine pool.

The Assessment and Migration service is ideal where the customer’s desktop environment is more complex and requires detailed intervention, and in situations where resellers do not have the time or resources available to make in-depth assessments and migration plans. Being able call on Tech Data’s service will allow them to accept more projects and thus increase revenues and profitability on WVD migrations.

tech dataThere are fixed pricing models for Standard and Complex assessments and migrations. Enterprise projects are tailored and priced to requirements.
