Curve's banking platform consolidates multiple cards and accounts into one smart card and app.

Onfido’s AI ID and facial biometric technology partnership speeds Curve customer sign-up

Curve, who provide a smart banking app is going to be partnering with identity verification and authentication specialist, Onfido, as a nifty way of simplify, and unifying its Digital Identity and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.

It’s Onfido’s AI-powered ID verification service that will add the tech capability enabling Curve customers to sign up by simply taking a photo of their passport and a selfie. Onfido first checks that the ID seems genuine and is not fraudulent, and then matches it to the user’s face. This ensures the person presenting the identity is its legitimate owner and is physically present. Users are able to start their digital journey through a simple and user-friendly online experience that meets regulatory requirements.

“Partnering with Onfido removes friction from the onboarding experience for Curve customers enabling them to seamlessly open a safe and secure Curve account in just a few quick and easy steps,” said Matt Collinge, Curve’s chief product and technology officer.

“Onfido’s interface and system is easy to navigate, drawing from a vast database that verifies identity in double quick time, and their portal quickly reports decision outcomes for ID doc and selfie and other KYC processes which have improved the sign up experience for our customers in line with our core compliance objectives.” He added.

Improved user experience
“As a personal user of Curve myself, I’m a big fan of the product. We’re very pleased to be supporting Curve as it continues its mission to free people’s finances and move banking to the cloud,” said Husayn Kassai, CEO and co-founder at Onfido.

“We are delighted to partner with a company that shares our goal of making digital access simple and secure. Because our machine learning models continuously learn to identify new fraud trends, we can enable Curve to onboard more users quickly without compromising on their fraud requirements. This helps build user trust and safety online while meeting KYC and AML regulations.”
