NEC introduces MultiSync V554Q ultra-high definition display

NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced a new product bringing ultra-high definition (UHD) to smaller, more affordable displays.

The MultiSync V554Q promises a “pixel-free viewing experiences”. The new display has a 55” screen, bringing UHD to a range of applications including corporate and retail environments, control rooms, food and beverage, and DooH.

UHD has many advantages over Full HD, including greatly increased pixel density (3,840 x 2,160 against 1,920 x 1,080 for Full HD) as well as providing effortless readability from both long and short viewing distances. “This makes the V554Q perfect for a range of applications including digital signage, meeting rooms and collaboration, technical and detailed presentations, CAD, conferencing and more,” said NEC.

As prices for UHD continue to fall, it becomes more affordable to incorporate the highest resolutions in a greater range of display sizes.

Industry analysts Futuresource Consulting predicts that the EMEA market for 55” UHD-displays will grow by over 50 per cent over the course of 2019, as businesses seek to benefit from the advantages of higher resolutions, including better viewing experiences both at distance and close-up.

Other features of the new V554Q include integrated SpectraView engine and compatibility with NEC’s Open Modular intelligence (OMi), which enables users to upgrade the power of their display at any time by integrating one of NEC’s options for OPS Slot-in PCs, Raspberry Pi compute modules or signal interfaces for content feed and computing.

“We are seeing an exciting shift in the display market, with UHD moving onto smaller, sub-60” displays over the coming 12 months,” said Martin Lienau, product manager, large format displays at NEC Display Solutions Europe.

“NEC now has three 55” large format displays supporting UHD, with the new V554Q joining our recently launched E557Q display and the interactive 55” NEC InfinityBoard collaboration display, in order to respond to the increased demand in that segment.

“It means end-user customers have the ultimate choice of device to provide pixel-free viewing in every conceivable application: from detailed, analytic presentations and decision-making in huddle spaces and meeting rooms, to a comfortable viewing experience for retail signage, even up-close. What’s more, the new V554Q display provides even better price performance than its predecessor model, so even the price makes sense.”
