The Razer Toaster will be made, confirms CEO

Gaming hardware brand Razer will be making its April Fools Razer Toaster into a real product, confirms CEO Min-Liang Tan.

Starting off as a Facebook page in 2013 named ‘Give us the Razer Toaster’, fans of the brand rallied for a toaster that can burn the Razer logo into slices of bread.

In 2016, Razer used the idea for an April Fools joke called ‘Project Breadwinner’. Min-Liang Tan issued a challenge to the community to get one million likes on the Facebook page. Once reached, the toaster would become a reality.

Fans could also get a Razer Toaster tattoo, which would count for 100,000 likes towards the goal. It turns out 12 people took the plunge to permanently ink themselves. So along with the 44,000 page likes, the challenge has been well and truly smashed.

True to his word, Min-Liang Tan took to Facebook on 29th April to announce the below:

“Alright – I didn’t think these guys were going to make it – but they did. It was to hit 1M likes and with each Razer Toaster tattoo being equivalent to 100K likes each….and they now have 12 Razer Toaster tattoos.

Well….what can I say. I’ve just officially liked their page – and I’m going to put together my team of designers and engineers. It will take a few years – but I’ll be sure to share the progress – and make it a community affair.

A Razer Toaster – For Razer Toaster Lovers. By Razer Toaster Lovers.”
