Chris Walters to spearhead Firstcom Europe’s channel development

Industry heavyweight Chris Walters has joined Firstcom Europe to spearhead channel development.

He will be responsible for the existing channel base as well as recruiting and enlarging the UK channel team as part of Firtscom Europe’s rapid expansion plans.

Walters will focus on delivering value to partners and resellers, widening Firstcom’s channel base, as well as ensuring that partners are being supported effectively to maximise their productivity and help them achieve their goals.

He fully understands the Telecoms and IT services market place having spent five years in sales leadership roles initially in cable and wireless before moving to GTS Ebone for a further five years where he was responsible for channel sales across EMEA. Walters then spent over eight years at Verizon where he was responsible for channel and UCaaS sales both in the UK and South Africa.

Most recently he was channel director at Hunter MacDonald, which was recognised as the fastest growing IT services company in the UK by the Sunday Times Fast Track 100.

“With over 20 years’ experience as a channel development leader, Chris brings valuable knowledge to Firstcom and will be instrumental in helping us achieve further success in the UK. We are at a critical point in our journey and we need renewed leadership to successfully implement our channel strategy. We are fortunate to have someone of Chris’ calibre on board,” said Adam Crisp, co-founder of Firstcom UK and Group CTO for Firstcom Europe.

Walters added: “I am very much looking forward to spearheading Firstcom’s channel strategy. Since the company formed in 2004, our partner organisations have been central to our success.

“We are about to launch new products and services and the opportunity for growth is huge. But to do this effectively we need to focus clearly on our partners, both new and existing to accelerate their ability to bring innovative products to their customers.”
