Apple Special Event 2018: How to livestream the new iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac launch

Apple is set to unveil the next generation iPhone at a special event in September.

Invitations have been sent out for the event, which takes place at the Steve Jobs Theatre at the new Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, on September 12th.

While it’s thought that the tagline on the invitation “gather round” is a nod to the new spaceship-like campus, as is usually the case with these things, it’s likely to also provide a hint to what will be announced at the event.

The nod to a “round” device or product line has some pondering whether we’re in for a new Apple Watch or even a new speaker product.

Aside from this, we’re pretty confident that the event will unveil the latest iPhone, which is expected to be the ‘S’ models, meaning it’s most likely we’ll see evolutions of the iPhone X rather than a brand new model.

iPhone rumours include an upgraded iPhone X with 5.8-inch OLED display, a high-end model with a 6.5-inch OLED screen, and a cheaper model featuring an LCD screen. All new models are likely to continue the iPhone X’s edge-to-edge display and Face ID.

Two new iPad Pro models are expected to be unveiled, along with some new Macs.

For those that aren’t lucky enough to be invited along to the event in California, fear not, you can watch all the action unfold from the comfort of your own home, as Apple will be live streaming the event.

You can watch the Apple Special Event live on 12th September at 10am PDT (7pm GMT) at https://www.apple.com/apple-events/september-2018/

In other Apple news, TVBEurope has reported that the tech giant has acquired start-up Akonia Holographics, which makes augmented reality lenses.

Akonia’s display technology allows for “thin, transparent smart glass lenses that display vibrant, full-colour, wide field-of-view images”, according to its website.

“Apple buys smaller companies from time to time, and we generally don’t discuss our purpose or plans,” Apple said in a statement.
