Tech Radar expands into Nordic Regions

PCR’s publisher Future plc has announced that our sister publication Tech Radar has expanded into Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden in their latest licensing deal with Orage AS.

Orage is a young and dynamic media company operating across the Nordic region. As a leading special interest bookazine publisher in the region, Orage has expertise in localising and tailoring globally relevant content for their regional audiences. Future and Orage have been partners in print publishing for several years and this new digital agreement with TechRadar.com is the latest in an ongoing relationship to expand Future’s brands and Orage’s portfolio globally.

TechRadar launched on the 11th April across all agreed territories on a two-year initial term, readers in the Nordic regions can expect a host of entertaining, informative and reliable content from Future’s leading technology brand.

This is the third contractual agreement for the popular tech website, which currently extends to the Middle East and India. This deal sees Future licensing not only the brand, but their unique platform model, incorporating their proprietary eCommerce platform, Hawk. This is a positive step in-keeping with Future’s licensing strategy to develop brands, become multilingual and reach new territories.

With 25 million unique monthly users globally, TechRadar is the market-leading authority on consumer technology in the UK, delivering breaking news, expert opinion, in-depth reviews and easy to follow how-to guides. Having recently reached a 4 billion page view milestone after ten years of operation, the brand continues to expand and diversify their monetisation model, with the aim of becoming the world’s leading technology website.

TechRadar in the Nordics will offer tech enthusiasts in the region a blend of the best, globally relevant, technology coverage and product reviews alongside local news, insight and product buying advice specifically tailored to the region in both English and local languages.

This collaboration is expected to grow the regional audience for TechRadar, extend TechRadar’s successful advertising and eCommerce relationships in the Nordic region and further strengthen the TechRadar brand and extend its global reach.

Claire MacLellan , MD for Media Service and People said: “It’s great to further cement what is a fantastic partnership across our leading digital brand. TechRadar is well on it’s way to becoming a global tech authority and together with Orage we can amplify our reach in line with our expansion strategy.”

Øyvind Therkelsen Manager from Orage added: “It is exciting to learn from the best in the business. TechRadar teaches us the importance of giving the right information to the reader and how Google rewards those who succeed at it. This has given TechRadar a very strong Google ranking, something that will also serve us well when we adapt the content for the local Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian readers.”
