‘UK Amazon’ offers fee-free 2018 to sellers

OnBuy.com, the site that has pitched itself as the UK alternative to Amazon, is offering sellers an early Christmas present as it launches a major TV campaign that looks to make the brand a household name.

Sellers who sign up by the end of December will get the whole of 2018 fee-free, as opposed to the normal subscription fee of £19 a month.

It comes soon after the news that the company has signed a deal with ITV for prime-time slots on all its channels across Christmas and New Year, with further TV advertising planned with ITV and Sky during 2018.

The Christmas campaign, which launches on December 18th and focuses on the company’s ‘Get On It!’ message, will reach at least 20 million UK households across ITV’s five channels and will be featured in key prime-time movie slots over the festive season, including ET and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on Christmas Day.

It OnBuy launched in November 2016 to provide a credible UK alternative to Amazon and now has more than 2 million product lines. December has been the busiest month ever for OnBuy, which is on track to have half a million visitors during the month as Christmas shoppers take advantage of its deals.

Cas Paton, Managing Director of OnBuy, said: “We are really excited to be launching our Christmas campaign that will put OnBuy in front of tens of millions of people and make OnBuy a household name.

“People in the industry have been talking about us for the past year and we now have around 500,000 visitors a month using the platform, but this is the next big step in our growth that will confirm us as a major UK brand that is the alternative to Amazon.

“Because we have seen such rapid growth, we are offering this one-off package for sellers to get on board now ahead of OnBuy becoming a household name. Put simply, now is the time to sign up!

“We have a significant spike in our online traffic in the run-up to Christmas and we expect this surge to continue into the New Year as shoppers are increasingly moving away from older marketplaces and checking online for the best bargains.

“We see this Christmas campaign as the springboard to even bigger things in 2018 as OnBuy continues to expand its reach.”

A number of high-profile sellers are now using the platform, including World of Books, the fourth fourth largest Amazon seller in Europe, and Vivo Technologies, Amazon’s seventh biggest seller, which trades as Electroworld and Thinkprice.
