Retailers who can’t wait all week begin Black Friday sales early

Major retailers are slashing their prices in a bid to beat the Black Friday chaos. The likes of Amazon began rolling back the prices as early as last week in a bid to beat the chaos of Black Friday. With Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot going on sale last week a number of other products are going on sale on the online retailers platform.

Meanwhile on the high street Currys PC World has launched its Black Friday deals, with saving to be had on products ranging from laptops, games, speakers and other tech. Dubbed ‘why wait’ deals, the pre-Black Friday sales are offering some 50 per cent off, with more than £500 to be saved on TVs, laptops and kitchen gadgets.

Among the best tech deals is a 65 inch $K LG TV with £600 off the asking price. Samsung’s R7 wireless speaker has had £150 knocked off while its HW-K4450 soundbar has also been given a 50 per cent price cut. Gaming is also a sector when it comes to Black Friday and Currys PC World are offering up a Playstation 4 Pro plus Fifa 18 and Crash Bandicoot N Sane Triology for just £299.

With many more deals to be had later in the week, it will be interesting to see if the retailers who have jumped the gun early end up profiting more from it. Either way, this Black Friday is set to be a record year with number expecting to get close to £10 billion in terms of UK sales.

As Michael McLaughlin at GfK says: “Retailers and brands have more experience of the event under their belts and more data to review, all of which leads to better planning and implementation. Strategies have changed over the years, and it’s no longer a case of crazed discounting, but rather a strategic sales initiative, which managed correctly can see positive results on the sales and profit lines.”
