AMD Ryzen 3 1200 CPU confirmed?

In February AMD confirmed the specs of its eagerly awaited Ryzen 7 CPUs and added to the line with Ryzen 5 the following month. Today it appears that we have new information about a new, entry-level Ryzen 3 SKU: the Ryzen 3 1200.

Spotted by Computerbase.de, details leaked by ASRock’s support page show details of the processor that is set to go up against Intel’s Core i3 dual-core lineup and is due for release in the second half of 2017.

Fudzilla notes that it’s not clear whether AMD will include dual-core SKUs in the Ryzen 3 lineup, and it’s likely that they will all be quad-core with and without SMT-enabled. It is expected that pricing wll start at around $150 in order to drastically undercut the Intel core i3-7100u’s RRP of $281.00.

AMD made waves with Ryzen 7 and its top-of-the-line 1800X that, according to AMD, outperforms Intel’s premier i7 chip at under half the price. Ryzen 5, while not having the same big price gap, still offered a competitive experience. The company will hope that it can also capture the lower-end of the market with the new Ryzen 3 when it launches later this year.
