Overclockers’ Abigail Bowen wins Rising Star award at PCR Women of the Year 2015

Abigail Bowen, technician at etailer Overclockers UK (OCUK), has been named Rising Star at the 2015 PCR Women of the Year awards.

She picked up the accolade – which recognises up and coming talent in the industry – at the award and networking event at London’s Sway Bar today (Friday, October 16th).

Bowen is responsible for building top of the range gaming PC systems, installing and configuring them, as well as overclocking and testing them. She also provides support to OCUK’s customers.

She started working for Overclockers as a shop assistant, and, wanting to do more within the company, applied for a position within the technical department. Within weeks she was building to a very high standard, and moved on to building and overclocking the water cooled machines that OCUK offers.

Bowen is also now a go-to person for newer members of staff when they need any overclocking tips or tricks.

Nancy Hammervik, CompTIA’s senior vice president, industry relations, handed the award to Bowen.

Bowen said: "This has been a complete surprise, I would like to thank my mentor, he gave me the advice I needed to push myself further. Thank you very much."

As part of winning the Rising Star award, she will also receive exclusive advice and support from all of the PCR Women of the Year judges following the event.

The PCR Women of the Year Awards 2015 shines the spotlight on some of the most inspirational and influential female execs in the PC tech industry.
