Ebuyer expansion sees etailer return to Sheffield with new B2B sales office

Online tech retailer Ebuyer.com is returning to its roots by opening a dedicated business office at Sheffield’s Arena Court.

The new office will focus on SMB sales and business solutions with a bespoke CRM system designed to the bridge the gap between digital and offline sales.

The expansion sees the etailer return to its hometown some nine years after relocating from Woodburn Road, Sheffield, to a purpose built Ebuyer distribution centre in Howden, East Yorkshire, which PCR visited earlier this year.

The online electronics and office supplies retailer is expanding its B2B team in a bid to corner the lucrative business market.

Ebuyer.com is hoping to open the office in late September and eventually recruit more than 70 staff from the local area.

The etailer says that 34 per cent of the UK’s B2B IT sales traffic visits Ebuyer.com at some stage in their purchasing journey. The new sales system is designed to capitalise on this potential footfall (based on top 25 IT and business VARs in the UK).

Ebuyer’s head of sales Phil Bates said: "The investment in the new office will mean that we’re able to engage much more closely with our customers and recommend the best solution for them.

"This investment in the office and the expansion of staff will increase our ability to be the virtual IT procurement manager for the UK’s small and medium businesses."

Ebuyer’s MD Stuart Carlisle added: "It’s incredibly important for a company like Ebuyer.com to continually evolve with the market – and finding ways to interact effectively with our business customers is crucial.

“We‘ve seen the business to business sales sector of our operation grow rapidly over the last two years, and opening this new office to generate and fulfil sales allows us to capitalise on a huge swathe of customers we simply couldn’t access before.

“I’m delighted to be able to expand the company when a number of other VARs are struggling in the market, and opening this office in Sheffield, where everything began, is particularly special.”

Founded in 1999 in a Sheffield garage, Ebuyer moved from its first permanent Sheffield premises on Woodburn Road in 2006, to a 280,000sq ft warehouse in Howden, where it now processes more than 1.3 million orders per year.
