Smartphones are already banned from exams, but now various universities are taking steps to ban smartwatches.
A number of Australian universities, including The University of New South Wales (UNSW) and La Trobe University, have forbidden the use of smartwatches during exams.
The UNSW revealed that all watches will be placed in a clear bag under a student’s chair during an exam, while La Trobe has stated that all smartwatches are banned during the exam period.
According to IT News, The UNSW said in a statement: “Due to advances in watch technologies the UNSW exams rules have been updated: No wrist or handheld watches are to be worn or placed on your desk during exams.
“Watches of any kind must be placed in a clear resealable bag under your exam chair before the exam begins.”
British universities are also taking precautions when it comes to smartwatches, and have banned watches from entrance exams.
According to Mashable, schools and universities have even become wary of gadgets such as Google Glass and Bluetooth headsets, prompting them to ban such items, and in China, a pair of glasses with a hidden camera were seized after a student tried to cheat during a test.
