TV shopping channel QVC says it’s sold out of nuisance call avoider devices 12 times.
The channel says sales of safety products have shot up since 2014, especially call blockers, which are designed for consumers looking to deal with annoying cold calls.
A spokesperson at QVC commented: “QVC is committed to offering customers security solutions.
"QVCUK.com has seen a 25 per cent increase in searches for security products and since launching ‘nuisance call avoiders’ in 2014, QVC have sold out of the product 12 times.”
Blockers such as the CPR V.107 Nuisance Phone Call Blocker cost around £38.50.
The news comes following a report from Which? that shows there have been 61,500 official complaints about nuisance cold calls.
In December last year, an official nuisance calls and texts task force – chaired by the publication – outlined 15 recommendations to introduce tougher rules and more action from businesses, regulators and the Government.
Nearly 200,000 people have backed its ‘Calling Time’ campaign, with firms like BT and SSE pledging their support.
Which? executive director Richard Lloyd said: “Despite a clear action plan from the nuisance calls task force, it’s disappointing that so many unwanted calls and texts are still being received. People are sick of being bombarded with nuisance calls that invade their privacy and waste their time.
“The Government knows what’s required to tackle nuisance calls, so we need to see more sustained action, with senior executives held to account, to help put an end to this everyday menace.”
