Windows 10 to launch on PCs first

Rumours have suggested that Windows 10 will be available this summer, but it seems the software will only be available for PCs first.

During a media event at the Build conference in San Francisco, Joe Belfiore corporate VP at Microsoft, said: “Our phone builds have not been as far along as our PC builds.

“We’re adapting the phone experiences later than we’re adding the PC experiences."

Although Windows 10 will be available on PCs, Belfiore stated that some features will be added to the build after its launch.

According to Gizmodo, a Microsoft program manager also revealed that Windows 10 for PCs will be available in July.

This launch date is starting to seem likely, as AMD’s CEO Dr. Lisa Su also let slip a few weeks back that the software will launch in July.

The company has already stated that Windows 10 will be available in 190 countries and 111 languages. Windows 10 will also be free for a year as an upgrade for users with Windows 7, 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1.

In other news, Microsoft has also launched four new ‘Universal Windows Platform Bridge’ toolkits.

With the toolkits, the firm says it will be easier for Android, iOS and legacy Windows developers to port their creations to Windows 10.

Plus, the kits will allow developers to create ‘Widows Universal Apps’ that will be capable of running on various other devices.
