Bluetooth powered device available in R2-D2 or R2-Q5 units

This Star Wars droid projects a keyboard onto your desk

Japanese brand Imp has launched a droid that we are most certainly looking for.

The little Star Wars R2-D2 and R2-Q5 units project virtual keyboards on to a flat surface which can be used with any Bluetooth device.

The droids work with iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as Windows 7/8 and Mac OS X.

Imp isn’t the first company to jump on board the Star Wars bandwagon to sell products – 50 Cent and SMS Audio previously teamed up with Lucasfilm to launch a series of Star Wars headphones.

PCR also recently spoke to distributor Eurosimm which has partnered SMS Audio for the launch of the second range of Star Wars headphones, released following the announcement of the new movie.

The droid virtual keyboards are bring released as limited edition gadgets and can be pre-ordered from £176.

Everyone knows R2-D2, but for anyone who isn’t sure what an R2-Q5 unit is, it is basically the Dark Side’s answer to C3PO’s best bud. He was first introduced in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
