Lowe’s last show at Radio 1 will be on March 5th

Zane Lowe joins Apple

Zane Lowe has revealed that he will leave the BBC, joining Apple instead.

The Radio 1 DJ will leave the BBC on March and move to the US to work for the tech firm.

Lowe and Apple are yet to reveal what the DJ will be doing at the company, but rumours have already begun to surface.

Reports suggest Lowe may join Apple’s iTunes radio division, helping to develop content for the company’s subscribers.

Other rumours suggest he may head the iTunes festival, using his music contacts to get new headline acts for the annual event. He could also be working on Apple’s new app which integrates technology from Beats Music.

Whatever happens you can expect him to be interviewing artists and creating playlists for iTunes customers.

Lowe’s last show for the radio station will be on March 5th.

Zane said: "I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship. The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country’s best music fans."

This news comes after Apple acquired Beats Electronics for $3 billion last year.

The company’s Apple Watch will also allegedly launch in March, which features a ‘Digital Crown’ and a brand new OS.
