Adobe sees increase in sales due to Black Friday

$39.9bn spent over Black Friday weekend

It is estimated that US shoppers spent $39.9 billion across the Black Friday weekend, a 4.8 per cent increase over 2013.

51.2 million shoppers in the US bought or planned to buy tech products according to a survey by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).

Shawn DuBravac, Ph.D., chief economist at CEA said: “We saw more shoppers putting tech in their baskets this holiday weekend – 45 per cent – than in any of the last three years.

“This shows tech is poised to enjoy strong sales throughout the entire 2014 holiday season.”

TVs were most popular across the weekend, with 37 per cent of sales, while tablets were second with 35 per cent and notebooks third with 23 per cent.

This Cyber Monday is also expected to see an increase in sales, with 30.1 million US adults planning to shop, while in the UK, Brits will spend up to £6,435 per second on the day.

Adobe has also reported that its sales have increased thanks to Black Friday.

During Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday the firm set new sales records with $1.33 billion and $2.4 billion, respectively.
