"Wish we could say more," says Apple, as it sends out invites

iPhone 6 to be unveiled at September 9th Apple event

Apple has sent out invites for a big media event next month, where its new flagship smartphone, the iPhone 6, is expected to be unveiled.

The invite (shown at the bottom of this article) states: "9.9.2014. Wish we could say more."

The event will be held at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts at De Anza College in Cupertino, California.

Seeing as Apple traditionally launches its iPhones in September, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to say the purpose of the event will indeed be the unveiling of the iPhone 6.

Judging by past releases, the iPhone 6 could be available to purchase from as early as September 19th.

The smartphone is expected to come with a 4.7-inch display, 10MP camera, NFC connectivity and humidity, pressure and temperature sensors.

Last month, PCR reported that a senior store leader at an internal Apple Retail Store meeting emphasised that October 14th would be an ‘immense’ day for Apple.

Considering there has been endless rumours suggesting that Apple will release two different iPhones at two different times, it may be that the September 9th event is for the iPhone 6 and October will see the launch of what is believed to be a bigger 5.5-inch smartphone, which will feature a sapphire screen instead of the usual Gorilla Glass found on previous models.

There is also a chance that either of these event dates could be for completely new product lines.

It is thought that Apple will enter the wearable tech market with the iWatch at some point this year, and in February, CEO Tim Cook revealed that ‘there will be new categories this year’.

Judging by Apple’s patent spree, the new products could include an iPen stylus, a double-sided touchscreen laptop and a wireless projector PC.
