Intel’s Haswell E and X99 chipset to launch in August – report

Intel’s next generation of processors and motherboards is expected to launch on August 29th.

Japan’s Hermitage Akihabara reports that ‘according to several officials’, the Haswell E and X99 Express chipset will be unveiled.

The site also noted that manufacturers are getting ready for the new CPUs and motherboards from Intel, indicating that they will be ‘as numerous in numbers’ as the Intel Z97 predecessors.

Two Intel X99 chipset motherboards from EVGA have been revealed by Guru 3D, Images show both an mATX and an ATX ‘Classified’ motherboard, said to be priced at $250 and $400 respectively.

The mATX appears to offer three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, four DIMM slots, an M.2 storage connector and six SATA3 6Gbps ports.

The Classified comes with five PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, one X4 slot, eight DIMM slots, two M.2 storage connectors and 10 SATA3 6Gbps ports.

Last week, Lenovo announced three new P Series ThinkStation desktop workstations, which will all support the new Haswell E Xeon.

The P500 will support one processor, while the P700 and P900 will be dual-capable.
