A new game offering players the chance to simulate the daily happenings of a rock has hit Steam Greenlight.
Rock Simulator 2014 comes courtesy of developer Strange Panther Games, and will provide the gripping opportunity to watch what happens to the titular lump of mineral in a variety of environments.
Terrains so far confirmed include grass, salt flats, mountains and desert.
“For a long time, there has been one game missing from the market: a genuine rock simulator,” the game’s Greenlight page observantly states.
“This simulator is a rock enthusiast’s dream.
“You can watch beautiful rocks in any location in the world. From grass plains to salt flats, there are dozens of hand designed BEAUTIFUL environments.”
Steam users have already taken to the game’s page to voice their comments.
“Will the Rolling Stones be included? As DLC or what?” asks one particularly witty user.
“Will I be able to customise my rock?” questions another budding geologist. “Maybe with a top hat or a monocle?”
Of course, the game isn’t without its critics, too.
“Not an actual rock sim,” warns one. “It’s a ‘staring at a rock sim.’”
“[I’m] getting a bit tired of these third person games being advertised as simulators.”
Should the game make it through Greenlight, it will join such simulation classics as Goat Simulator, Soda Drinker Pro and Woodcutter Simulator.
