The next update to Windows 8 may return the boot-up screen to the classic desktop view.
As of the update from Windows 8 to 8.1 users could choose to boot up to the classic icon-equipped desktop view instead of the tiled full-screen ‘Metro’ Start menu, but starting up into the menu was still the default setting for new users.
However, according to leaker WZor (via Engadget), the latest test version of an upcoming update to the operating system will revert all users to the desktop by default.
Other reported changes include the relocation of the sleep, shut down and restart options to the Start screen instead of the swipe-in ‘charms’ toolbar and the addition of a minimize option to fullscreen apps.
