CES 2014: Kogan unveils ‘world’s best value Ultra HD TV’

Australian manufacturer Kogan is showcasing a 55-inch Ultra High Definition TV costing AUD$999 (£550) at this year’s CES.

The TV, which the firm calls the ‘world’s best value UHDTV’, has a 3840 x 2160 resolution, is powered by Android 4.2, comes with Wi-Fi and Ethernet ports, USB 3.0, three USB 2.0 and MicroSD.

Ruslan Kogan, founder and CEO of Kogan.com said CES shouldn’t just be about technology that the average person could never afford.

“We want to make the latest technology more affordable for everyone, which is why we’ve designed a 55” Ultra High Definition Smart LED TV for under $1000.

“The real innovation here is the price. Generally it’s Australians who look at prices of technology overseas with envy. For once, it’s now the rest of the world looking to Australia, wondering when this Kogan TV will be available in their country…stay tuned."

The Kogan 55-inch UHDTV will go on sale in late January in Australia. There is no word yet on a UK release.
