Tablets, Ultrabooks, Chromebook and Smartphone unveiled

New Acer devices revealed, pictured ahead of CES 2014

Acer has lifted the lid on a host of new tablets and Ultrabooks and more in time for the International CES 2014 trade show.

Here’s some key information on each product plus details on pricing and release dates:

Acer Iconia W4 tablet (pictured above right)
Out end of January with a starting price of €299

This tablet boasts vibrant visuals for work and play on an 8.1-inch display with IPS technology. It runs on Windows 8.1 and has a 4th generation Intel Atom processor, plus Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 come pre-installed at no extra cost. Battery life is up to 10 hours.

Zero Air Gap technology removes the air between the touch panel and LCD module, reducing reflection and boosting readability even under sunlight. The Iconia W4 features a 16:10 ratio with 1280×800 pixel resolutions, a 2MP 1080P front camera and a 5MP rear camera with autofocus that supports 720p/1080p at 60 FPS/30FPS respectively.

Accessories include the Acer Crunch Keyboard which folds out while also serving as a tablet stand, and offers Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and is rechargeable via Micro USB, the Acer Crunch Cover, which folds out into a tablet stand with multiple angle settings to suit each user’s reading preferences, and Acer Power Bank. The latter offers up to four hours extra battery life for tablets and up to 30 hours talk time for mobile phones.

Acer Iconia A1-830 Tablet
Out this quarter with a starting price of €169

A 7.9-inch Android tablet with an IPS 1024×768 7.9-inch display designed for web browsing, casual gaming, sharing and staying connected.

It will be shown for the first time at Pepcom’s Digital Experience media event on Monday, January 6th at CES 2014.

It weighs 380 grams and is 8.15mm thin. It is powered by an Intel Atom (Clover Trail+) Z2560 1.6GHz processor and 1GB of on-board LPDDR2 SDRAM, plus 7.5-hour battery life.

The tablet boasts 16GB of storage, as well as via the microSD slot that supports cards up to 32GB. The Iconia A1-830 also features the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Its rear-facing camera captures 1080p Full HD audio/video recording with a 2560×1920 resolution. Plus, the device can use the Acer Crunch Keyboard and Acer Crunch Cover accessories.

Acer Iconia B1 Tablet
B1-720 WiFi version out mid-January starting at €129, B1-721 3G version out end of January starting at €179

Featuring a 10-point touch display, this is aimed at young or new users or families looking for an additional tablet for their children, or busy individuals seeking a convenient mobile companion. 

It has a 1.3GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of memory with the option to expand the storage capacity by 32GB via microSD.

The optional Anti-glare protective film protects the screen against scratches. In addition, Acer offers Crunch Keyboard and Traveler Adapter kit peripherals.

Acer C720P Chromebook
Release TBC, price starts at €229

Acer has extended its touchscreen Chromebook line with a new configuration in a new colour – the Acer C720P-2600 in Moonstone White.

The device’s 11.6-inch HD LED back-lit display and 10-point touch display allows customers to interact naturally with the device, using gestures such as swipe, tap and pinch to zoom. It has a 1366×768 resolution and like the rest of the new C720 line, is powered by an Intel Celeron 2955U processor. Battery life is 7.5 hours.

The Acer C720P-2600 Chromebook has a 32GB SSD and 2GB of DDR3 memory, plus up to 100GB of free Google Drive storage for the first two years after purchase.

Acer Liquid Z5 smartphone
Out mid-January at a suggested price of €169

Acer has today unveiled the Liquid Z5, a compact 5-inch smartphone designed for first time smartphone adopters or budget conscious users looking mainly for mobile browsing and taking photos and video clips.

The Liquid Z5 features a 16:9 aspect ratio screen. Powered by Android 4.2.2, the Liquid Z5 measures 145.5 x 73.5 x 8.8 mm and weighs 147 grams. It touts a dual-core 1.3 GHz processor, 4 GB of internal user storage, Wi-Fi, integrated GPS and a 5-megapixel camera.

Acer Aspire V5 Ultrabook
Out now from €599

The new V5-561P comes with a built-in optical drive and permanent storage of up to 4.7GB. In addition, the M-DISC is not vulnerable to failure like traditional DVDs and CDs, as it’s made up of a special layer that undergoes any permanent physical change not fading or deteriorating.

The V5 has a a 15.6-inch HD LED-backlit, 10-point multi-touch display with Direct Bonding technology, which increases the effective contrast ratio, including the viewing and touch experience. It’s powered by Windows 8, has up to 16GB RAM and Intel’s Core processors based on Haswell micro-architecture, plus it’s powered by AMD Radeon R7 and R5 graphics.

It also boasts Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater surround sound effect technology, HDMI and VGA ports as well as an SD card slot and an integrated USB 3.0 ports.

Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook
Out now from €999

Acer today announced that its Aspire S3 Ultrabook is now available in Europe, Middle East and Africa. 

As on the Aspire S7, the S3’s patented dual-torque hinge design allows users to open the lid up to 180-degrees for sharing content, while keeping the display wobble-free.

The new S3 cover is made from aluminium and sprayed Sparkling White with a mirror-polish finish, while the device is 17.8 mm thin and weighs 1.67 kg. It is equipped with the latest Intel Core processors, which offer up to 15 per cent better performance and up to 2x faster 3D graphics processing speed, with lower power consumption. It also boasts NVIDIA GeForce GT 735M graphics and a 1080p Full HD display.
