Apple’s iTunes Radio to get UK launch in ‘early 2014’

Apple will expand iTunes Radio to include the UK, people close to the matter told Bloomberg.

The sources claim that Apple will beat industry leader Pandora to the UK and Canada because it has deals with Universal Music Group, amongst other record companies, for international rights.

iTunes Radio launched in the US on September 18th and is free and ad-supported, like Spotify. Audio ads run on the service one every 15 minutes, with video ads playing once an hour.

iTunes Radio has already reached deals for campaigns with McDonalds, Nissan, Pepsi and P&G.

Users can customise stations and purchase songs they like. iTunes Match subscribers can access an ad-free version of the service.

Other features include playlists featuring treading songs on Twitter and the ability to skips tracks.
