Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Anton Yelchin among those said to be joining Duncan Jones’ video game adaptation

‘Warcraft’ movie adaptation casting rumours emerge

Casting rumours concerning Duncan Jones’ World of Warcraft adaptation ‘Warcraft’ are claimed to have leaked.

Among those said to be joining the project from Moon and Source Code director Jones and Blood Diamond writer Charles Leavitt are Colin Farrell (Seven Psychopaths, Horrible Bosses, In Bruges), Paul Dano (Prisoners, Looper, There Will Be Blood), Paula Patton (2 Guns), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness), Travis Fimmel (from the History Channel’s Vikings) and Anson Mount (from US program Hell on Wheels).

The rumours are some of the first to emerge around the film, which is slated for a 2015 release, following filming in the first half of 2014. Unconfirmed sources have previously suggested that the film will be based on the spin-off novel Warcraft: The Last Guardian.

Jones, an avid gamer and the son of David Bowie, took over control of the project from Evil Dead director Sam Raimi, who was originally collaborating with Saving Private Ryan writer Robert Rodat, after Raimi and Rodat left due to creative differences with Blizzard.
