GTA V – the latest in Rockstar’s nick-a-car-and-shoot-things ‘em up franchise – clocked up a whopping $800 million in day one sales.
Midnight sales earlier this week and a persistent marketing campaign no doubt fuelled the success – in the UK alone 1.57 million gamers rushed out to buy their copy.
As well as the usual free-form gameplay, allowing you to tear around a virtual world in a stolen Mazda for hours on end should you wish, GTA V now allows you to switch between three characters.
The barnstorming sales make it the most successful game in history, in terms of fist day sales.
